Question by iluvanimals: trouble breathing at night?
when i sleep everyone tells me that i don’t snore, i just gasp for almost every breath and it seems like i have trouble breathing. i do have asthma but it’s usually just when i do sports. i’ve tried breath right strips and they didn’t help at all. i do yawn a lot through the day and i wonder if it’s just that i have weak lungs. though one time i went to get my breath checked and the dr. told me that i have strong lungs but that was awhile over a year ago. i was just wondering if there was something that i could do to stop my “snoring” because it’s always embarrassing it i fall asleep at sleepovers and people make fun of me because of how loud i sleep. i just don’t want to fall asleep in class and get completely embarrassed at how weird my breathing sounds when i sleep. what do i do?

My dad had a problem similar to this and they told him that the cartilage in his nose is deteriorating. It is collapsing and cutting off his air supply through his nose. snores like a train, too.

Just something to consider having checked.

Question by salzano14: My roommate wakes me up every night because “I snore”?
The only problem is, I don’t snore loud enough for this to be an issue. My roommate last year told me ‘it was audible, but not loud enough to keep someone awake.’

This year when my roommate woke me up, I managed to keep doing what I had been when I was asleep and pretended to not wake up. It could basically be categorized as a loud breathing. None of this snorting like a pig or anything. He woke me up again 10 seconds later, at which point I yelled at him for a good minute or so on how much of a jerk he was.

Sometimes he’ll throw a shoe at me, sometimes he’ll use his alarm clock, sometimes he’ll clap really loudly… but it’s officially an issue as of today. An hour after he woke me up, I woke him up, and when I woke up this morning I caught him red handed making a (harmless, but still) DOS file on my computer that kills my internet connection when you run it.

I’m going to my RA about it, is that probably the best thing to do? Otherwise, what else would you suggest?

It is the best thing. The only thing I can say other than that would be not to do anything back because he can go to your RA too and get you in trouble too. So just to him/her and talk and get everything straightened out.

I hope it works out for you. :D
