and used it to insert a very small and thin piece of steel or metal (about an inch long maybe, sort of like a needle) into the soft palate of the mouth. It stabilizes the soft palate or stiffens it just a bit to eliminate the vibration that causes snoring.

Can’t remember the name of the procedure. Anyone know what I’m talking about? I want to look into it more but don’t know how to find the info again.

He has tried the over the counter nose strips and the mouth spray. They help some but not enough. He just simply will not have surgery to stop the snoring. I simply need some sleep! Thanks.

A very simple solution you can try is the following:

When you are awakened by his snoring, simply match his snoring and the rhythm of his snoring, and then when both of you are “in sync” with his snoring, then slowly quiet your snoring, and if you do this right, his snoring will follow your snoring until you will stop snoring and go back to sleep.

Another easy solution is the following:

Simply when he is snoring, whisper into his ear “you are snoring; stop snoring.” Make sure not to make it so loud that he will awake from his sleep, but audible and gentle enough for his mind to hear the message. The message will get through to him, yet he will not be conscious of hearing it, and if it works, he should stop snoring.

Although snoring can be classified as a physiological problem, it is a result of a psychological problem, which can be caused by many factors (which I will not get into.)

My husband, who is only 23 and not overweight, has been keeping me up alllll night lately. Whether if he lays on his side or on his back he still snores. We’ve tried the nose strips and they don’t help. It sounds like he doesn’t open his mouth wide enough when he breathes, so it makes weezing sounds. His mom told me he has really bad adenoids (sp) that may be causing it, but the doctor didn’t recommend surgery. I have a hard time using ear plugs because I always sleep on my side and I end up waking up in the middle of the night with a really sore ear. The only way I have been able to sleep lately is by taking sleeping pills and I’m almost out…so I need a solution right away! Please help! Thanks!

My husband was the same way. He went to the doctor & found out that allergies & sinus trouble can cause snoring also. He put him on Singulair & another medicine for allergies & it stopped the snoring.

Yes, you can use breath rights, they are little strips that look like butterfly bandaids. you put them on your nose and it helps with snoring. Hope this helps!

many people who snore also have sleep apnea and need to be evaluated and fitted with a CPAP machine to help them sleep better at night. symptoms of that are snoring, stop breathing when sleeping and then snorting loudly when they do breath, always sleepy, falling alseep the minute you sit down or even at a red light or while on the computer(I did both). Sleep apnea can cause high blood pressure that does not respond to drugs and other serious health issues.
My husband snored me to sleep for over 30 years and I could never get him to see a doctor about it and we tried everything you can think of and frankly, snoring occurs in your throat so those nose strips are a waste of money and a joke. It happens when you sleep with your mouth open and your tongue relaxes and covers your airway. If he slept on his side, he didn’t do it and I became quite adept at giving him a shot in the ribs with a sharp elbow to encourge him to roll over.
Some advice I have read was to sew a pocket into the back of pajamas and slip a tennis ball in there to encourage the snorer to stay on their side when asleep.
There are many sprays and other gadgets that are sold via tv and magazines but since I am a sufferer and intimately aquainted with snoring, I cannot see how they would even work. I got the CPAP machine about 10 years ago and it works fine. I sleep like a log with it and my blood pressure corrected itself within a month. Yes it took some getting used to but I did.
Some people will also tell you to lose weight but how does that explain all the skinny folks who also snore??
